GOAT Boys Mentoring Programme

Better role models. Brighter futures.

Abbey College is proud to be launching the GOAT Boys Mentoring Programme in partnership with GOAT Boys, supporting our young men to develop confidence, resilience, positive attitudes and aspirations for the future.

The programme is built around the GOAT values of Growth, Ownership, Attitude and Tenacity and aims to connect our students with positive male role models from our local community. It comes off the back of the Lost Boys: State of our Nation report from the Centre for Social Justice. centreforsocialjustice.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/CSJ-The_Lost_Boys.pdf

What does the programme involve?

The programme will run for six months from January 2027, with mentors and students meeting one evening each month at Abbey College.

Each session will provide opportunities for young people to:

  • Build confidence and self-belief
  • Develop positive relationships and communication skills
  • Explore careers, pathways and future opportunities
  • Hear different experiences and perspectives
  • Develop resilience and a positive attitude towards challenges
  • Ask questions, share ideas and learn from positive role models

We are looking for mentors

We are looking for positive male role models aged 18+ who are willing to give their time, experiences and encouragement to support a young person.

You do not need previous mentoring experience. What matters most is a willingness to listen, share your experiences and help a young person recognise their potential.

We would particularly welcome interest from people working in areas such as sport, construction and trades, emergency services, healthcare, business, the armed forces, education, coaching and local businesses, although mentors from all backgrounds are encouraged to get involved.

All mentors will receive appropriate safeguarding training, DBS checks and programme support before the programme begins.
